Bayard Mckenzie
Director
With over twenty years of planning and development experience, Bayard brings a wealth of knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the urban development landscape. His career includes seven years in Local Government, over eight years working with private consultancies across Auckland and Queenstown, and nine years running his own planning and architecture business at TDC.
Bayard holds a Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Planning (Honours) from Massey University. His passion for good design outcomes is reflected not only in his professional work but also personally, having recently completed his own architecturally designed home. This experience has deepened his appreciation for building solid foundations of urban design and delivering architecture of substance.
In March 2016, Bayard founded The Development Collective, driven by a commitment to creating well-considered, sustainable developments. His broad expertise enables him to lead projects from initial conception through to successful completion, working closely with designers, architects, property owners, and developers.
Bayard’s recent achievements include the successful delivery of his own apartment development in 2023, where TDC served as the lead designers, and he is currently managing two new development projects in Central Auckland.
His diverse skill set and extensive knowledge of the design and development process position him as a trusted partner in delivering outstanding development outcomes for New Zealand’s urban landscape.
